William Wolmutt

William Wolmutt was raised in a tradition of precise craftsmanship and appreciation of fine art.  His influences include architects and industrial designers as well as fine artists.  Currently his inspiration is drawn from Baroque and Art Deco, as well as the natural forms of Western Colorado.

“Wood is a rewarding medium but it demands cooperation.  It encourages the clade in one direction and resists it in another.  Wood has no equal for visual, tactile and olfactory depth.

I like my sculptures to be flowing forms that appear to have grown naturally, perhaps to evoke a mood or present an enigma.  If I can incorporate these qualities in a musical instrument with a resonate voice capable of deep emotive expression, that is the ultimate challenge.”
