McKenna Daniel-Nelson

“One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star” ~Nietzche

McKenna Daniel is an emerging, young artist in residence in the inspirational foothills of Hotchkiss.  A Colorado native, she works principally in acrylics, but her other specialties include ceramics, glass, and watercolor.  Many of her works, especially her miniatures have been called illuminant, impressionistic, and tony.

Having studied dance, art history, film, literature, painting, interior design, and religion at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Daniel versed herself in the modern and traditional elements of style but preferred to forge her own unique method of interpretation. She is also an avid athlete, yogin, naturalist, and organic foodie with a burgeoning interest in homeopathy.

She is an integral member of the Creamery Art Center, and is currently en stage in Western Colorado’s beautiful “Golden Triangle” (Paonia-Hotchkiss-Crawford).  Daniel is perfecting old mediums, and exploring new ones, motivated by the moonlit West Elk Mountains, the barren dessert dunes, and the itinerant Gunnison River.  Her pieces can already be found in more than a few homes throughout the Grand Valley.
