Lynn Pavelka

An artist translates experience into the tangible; the ineffable into an experience.  Lynn’s use of photography as her primary medium is not limited to a simple depiction of the material world, but rather expresses the greater dichotomies of life in contemporary society.  Her design philosophy has evolved since receiving her Bachelor of Architecture from Miami University of Ohio and is influenced from designers such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rose.  This architectural foundation and structural analysis enlivens her work as she explores perspective, texture, and color in her interpretations of nature.  Recently she has fused photography and oil paints to explore the deeper context of her images and how they relate to our perception of nature,  By approaching the mystique of the untamed through structure and design, she creates contrasting images of fundamental complexity while eliciting equilibrium and tranquility.  Furthermore, Lynn is not limited to conventional uses or displays of photography.  By fusing images on a variety of natural fabrics and materials complimentary to the image (e.g. canvas, silk, satin, wood, and linen) she implies a greater depth and nuance to familiar forms.

She has been an active board member for Artspace & Open Studios, an organization dedicated to creating an environment in which artists can thrive.  Lynn now resides in Colorado overlooking the magnificent Rocky Mountains.
